Thoughts on search engine resubmissions?

What's the opinion on resubmitting to search engines?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum. Just wanted to get thoughts on resubmitting to search engines. It's been at least a year or two since my sites were submitted. There's been a recent site redesign and rankings are practically nonexistent, although some pages are indexed. Should another round of submissions be implemented? Should an emphasis be placed on specific engines/directories (like DMOZ, Inktomi, Yahoo, Google, etc.) Should all efforts be drawn towards making improvements within the site?
