Just about to launch a site into the wide world and because of the particular product, my clients only come from the UK.
I've purchased two domain names forexample.com and forexample.co.uk
If your clients were only in the UK, which one would you choose to promote everywhere?
Any help appreciated.
Doug.
ADDED- this might explain it in more detail
[webmasterworld.com...]
SOME search facilities, engines ISP home pages etc filter by domain, if you don't have a .uk domain then you are not in teh SERPs, it is as simple as that, so if you want to risk it all then go ahead, but realise that you WILL be excluded no matter where your hosting is.
Hope this helps

So it looks as though I had better go for the .co.uk name and have the .com pointing to it, yeah?
Looking through the archives, it seems as though opinions are divided on whether you need to get a UK host or not, I'm very happy with the US one that we've got, so would rather not change, unless anyone knows any definitive facts?
I also saw in the archives, that the content has to be UK specific? Supposing that your website was only for people from the UK to go to, for example, Canada to see certain ancestral roots, so, in this example, would that be UK specific? Would I still be best going for a .co.uk in the belief that it would have better search results for the UK people?
Any help appreciated.
Dougie.
