Do backlinks have value if no one clicks through?

Seems like backlinks need traffic to prove worthiness

Let's say you have inbound links from a high-ranking website, but over time those pages have become somewhat buried inside that site's architecture. Will that backlink still have value even if no one really clicks through from it any more?

As long it's a link that the spiders can read, it will still help your cause somewhat. It is evidence for the search engines that someone thought your site was worth linking to, and it may also help to reinforce the theme of your page.
