I've had various sites over the past few years and submitted them to search engines and other sites even to go as far as linking my sites with link directories, but even after a year of being on the net i'm lucky to even get 33 visits to a site in one moths time. Whats the deal? How do you drive traffic to your site without spending a fortune to do so and never see a return for your money.

If you want to build a website with high traffic, you should know what people want. The most selling website is :
- Free sex gallery
- free download sex movie
- free download mp3,
and all the free stuff.

First of all, if your site is an affiliate store, forget building traffic. You'll probably never get ranked by any SE.

Second (if your site is NOT an affiliate store) start studying the search engine forums here and learn how to get your site ranked at least high enough to get real traffic.

It will take time to learn and implement: figure at least a year to make a real difference. Building genuine content that people are interested in is a big part of it, and that takes time.

Good luck.

Do something stupid or funny, do something that makes people mad. Do something that everyone will talk about and tell the friends about.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld sparks78! [webmasterworld.com]

Follow the users, don't expect them to follow you. Where they go, you go. What they do, you do.

If you were buying billboards, would you buy one on 'Church Lane' because it's convenient for you to go to see it; or would you buy one on 'Stadium Way' where you know for sure there are vast crowds queuing every Saturday for the football match?

And if you don't know where users go; figure out where you go first. Go through your history, don't skip anything, and try to find a way to get site exposure on each of the sites you visited yesterday. You will fail to do so with many; but those which you manage will add up to a solid promotional message for people who are like you and go to similar sites to those you visit.

also if you have a way to monetise your traffic you can do PPC. With tracking you can work out what terms are profitable and work them.
