2 years ago we moved away from a static html site to Wordpress. The main page was blank.htm and had a couple thousand incoming links.

We decided to leave that page as a static page rather than risk moving it to php/css.

Now we need to move it into Wordpress.

Looks like a 301 is the best way to do this, but there will probably still be sites linked to the original static page a year or two from now.

Should I leave the 301 re-direct indefinitely? There is no way to inform all those who have linked to us, that we have moved the page.

The page has ver high PR also because of the incoming links and I don't want to lose the PR now, or over time.

Thanks

In answer to your question: permanent 301, forever.
But, why does the page have to move to "wordpress?" Can't it just continue to sit there happily on your server? What is gained by changing the name of the page?
