I have a site with a detailed navigation, quiet a long list on the right side of the screen. Is it a good idea to remove a link from the navigation for a certain page, when that link is also in the body text?

For example:

I have a page about blue widgets.

The navigation links are red widgets, green widgets, orange widgets, purple widgets, ...

On the blue widgets page I talk about green widgets and hyperlink the keywords "green widgets" to the green widgets page. Now there are 2 links to the green widgets page, one in the text, one in the navigation.

Is it a good idea to remove the green widgets link in the navigation of this page?

If the link benefits the user, keep it. My understanding is that Google simply ignores more than one link to a page from the same page.

I would not assume that the engines ignore in text internal links. As for whether to use them, by all means, as ecmedia says, go ahead where it makes sense for the user.
