Good Morning,
I have built a new site with over 200 pages (ecommerce site). I want to submit my site to the search engines and Im confused over what to do. Do I need to submit each one of my pages, or will the search engines get all my pages (spider?). I have hardly any budget, but could scrape some together if it was imperative.
I have already submitted my homepage via a few free submition services.

I would also be grateful if anyone could tell me how I know if a spider has visited my site, the web stats sent by my host is webalizer.

Lastly, I only found this forum last week and I can't tell you how useful it has been, a big thankyou to all the people who give their time to helping, hopefully in the future I will be able to give some of that knowledge back.

Welcome aboard 1304

You only need to submit the first page, the crawlers will do the rest.

I have my own logs I can access on the server so I don't know about webalizer. You're looking for browser type and you'll see weird things like: Technoratibot/1.5, QPCreep Test Rig, googlebot-image etc etc. It's these strange ones that are the type of crawlers you'll find.

If you can't get this info then visit a search engine and type in cache:http://www.yourdomain.dom and it will show you the latest cache of your site.

The google toolbar is also worth getting because it shows you your page rank as well.

If you have no other sites linking to you then expect it to take quite some time to index your site. If you can get a few PR3 and above sites linking to you it could take a couple of days instead of a few weeks to get on the SE's.

Simon.
