I am wondering how internal page from a website converted into backlink.

Well i am checking backlink using this command "link:------" in Google

I have seen many sites having PR-4,5 having no external links but having many internal links.

Is these internal links carry any weigh in google algorithm.

So what are the criteria when an internal page link converted into backlink.

Any suggestions and comments

Google can show less than 1% of actual backlinks they have when used with link: command. More importantly they appear to have a filter that would pick low level candidates from complete list of backlinks.

My understanding is that once a website has been around for a while and pages have pagerank, even internal pages count towards ranking. In other words, you can get good traffic with just your own links - but the website must have lots of links and must be old.
