I will be refreshing my site, (both content and design) and thought it would be a good time to work on the SEO bit of things too.
Appreciate your advise on what are the "to do" items that I should factor into this upgrade exercise. It will not be limited to upgrade on the site only but also a catch up on the other marketing efforts that can increase exposure of the site.

1. Limit all pages to a reasonable size.
2. Make a site with a clear hierarchy and text links.
3. Try to use text as much as possible, instead of images.
4. Add a site map.
5. Make sure that all the images must have ALT tags.
6. Avoid frames, flash Introduction etc.
In case of content:
1. Content must be of good quality and unique.
2. If possible try to update your content frequently.
3. Help your content to travel in the internet world.
Finally I would like to say that a good combination of on page and off page factors can help you to rank well,so concentrate on those things.
