I have looked through the site and not really found anything of similar nature so I hope I don’t loose you all too soon lol
I wanted to pick brains and find out what you all think about content changes and the ranking effects it may have…
Now we all know a stale site is not good and fresh keyword rich contact is good, but what I’m wanting to know is this…
Is there a point where fresh content is bad?
Now I am not talking about creating new pages full of nice clean SE friendly content I’m talking about, a page that has been indexed and is doing well in rankings. If this page is left alone and never touched does this page become bad news?
Ok lets take a page that’s been online for about a year… now imagine its laid out in a three column format with the main body text being in the center… so you have your links, images or snippets of content down either side columns ok… to keep this page fresh and SE friendly would it be a bad thing for your two outside columns to keep changing?
I don’t want to go into too much detail as like I said this hasn’t been talked about all that much if at all, but I’m guessing anyone who is into SEO like me will guess at the point I’m getting at! If not I can explain a little more lol

Actually, "stale" is all relative. If you have a tutorial page, there's a good chance that tutorial is not going to change, hence the page will remain static, and it will do just fine.

No, fresh content is always a plus. But, you don't want to inject fresh content just for the heck of it. Forget about the SEs for a moment and ask yourself if that "fresh content" is good for your visitors? If so, then by all means, put it up there.

Not at all. In fact, over time, it may improve in performance as it garners history, backlinks, traffic, etc.

Again, I wouldn't look at it from an SE friendly viewpoint. Is the changing of content in those two columns of benefit to your visitors? If so, then make it so. If not, then leave it be.

We've had quite a few discussions here about content, dynamic content, content that changes frequently, etc. There is no "one size fits all" solution. Your users will dictate what you do with that content.
If the pages are performing well now, don't mess with them. They will continue to perform. When they start to drop out of the top results is when you start looking at the source of the problem. Its usually related to increased index size, more competition, etc.
