Hi everyone,

Once again, this post may be moved if required.

My question is what can a SEO do/study to further affirm his job in an SEO role. Considering that since starting
SEO 2.5 yrs back. I have only done SEO/Keyword Analysis+Research and many other interesting projects both large and small.

The only feather missing is working on a PPC campaign, though my knowledge of PPC is about 45% sharp without working on an actual PPC campaign.

I am wondering if i should go and do a IT Masters in Web/Internet related area and move into Web Dev. completely. Or learning PPC on the side is worth it

I would love some feedback on this.

Cheers,

I myself don't focus on PPC, I think about organic results from SEO. However, I have run a few campaigns in the past, for myself and for clients. My suggestion would be trial by fire, simply work on a PPC campaign for yourself to learn with first hand experience. Frequent forums where PPC is in discussion, and learn from other people's success and mistakes.

This is what I do ... and I am surprised more people don't do it. Doing keyword research and then optimizing is a waste of time. You don't know the impact.

1) Do keyword research
2) Open PPC account
3) Drive Traffic
4) Analyze results

Take the keywords that resulted in SALES (0.5% conversion or higher) and have a high PPC cost of $1 or more a click and optimize for those keywords.

If you don't do the above you risk getting a top ranking for a keyword that doesn't convert. After all, you are in this to make money, not just drive traffic, right?
