hi, i have placed the link of xml sitemap on the site and also placed it on the server, should i place the sitemap on server only or i can place it on the site also instead of .html sitemap

Do both. HTML is good for both robots and humans (don't forge to link it to your pages) and XML is good for robots, especially if you're submitting to certain SE's.
