Does any SEO work in house positions or do they usually do consulting. We tried posting a job, and we get bomabarded with consultants trying to have our SEO outsourced.

speaking as someone who may have bombarded you with one of those emails:-)

From a consultant's point of view, we make more money working for ourselves. On another issue, any good SEO will also do SEO for themselves (or should, anyway) so they always have a good revenue stream.

From an employer point of view it might be more worthwhile - no payroll taxes, no benefits, just an invoice from the consultant.

My .02 anyway.
