With all the recent changes in SE, I think it is time I update my score card. Here is what I have so far.

ODP - feeds: AOL, Google Directory, Hotbot, Lycos, Netscape - Cost= Free (begging and pleading on occassion)
Looksmart - feeds: AltaVista, Excite (webcrawler & magellan) - Cost = $199.00
Inktomi - Feeds: Canada, iWon, MSN, AOL, Hotbot, Looksmart, NBCi, GoTo, About, Anzwers - Cost= $20/one URL
Direct Hit - Feeds: Hotbot, Lycos, MSN - Cost = Free
Google - Feeds: Yahoo!, Netscape - Cost = Free
Go - Feeds: No one - Cost = $199.00
NBCi - Feeds: No One - Cost = $199.00
Yahoo! - Feeds: No One - Cost = $199.00

Am I even close? It has been a while since I have taken a look at this information, so I guess it is time. Any additions or corrections are welcome.

Don't forget the feeds to dogpile.
Yahoo! + others are included in dogpile results.

On my book, LS also feeds MSN, I'd add: Fast who feeds Lycos (please confirm?)

Might want to add:

Directory listings in Yahoo, NBCi, ODP, and Looksmart all feed Google indirectly. They mean a lot.

One Looksmart listing means a directory listing in MSN, Excite, AltaVista, and now I believe, in Amazon. These links/listings are special to Google.

How about GoTo:
A top 2 will give you:
AltaVista, AOL, HotBot, Lycos and Netscape...
right?
Oh... and I think NBCi is $99 right at the moment(I'm not certain when that promotion ends)

>>Don't forget the feeds to dogpile.

The dogpile web catalog has been a great source of traffic. Not the paid goto or findwhat listings, but dogpile itself. Looking at their listings, it appears that if you have the product name in the URL as well as the title, this gets you ranked nicely (based on a limited manual check of certain keywords....Your mileage may vary.)

Mike - is there a list on the ODP somewhere of "big" semi-official users of the ODP? I know the one cat where everyone is listed, but I mean major sites like Hope has listed there? I don't think there is.

(nice thread Hope - thanks)

Thank Brett,

I must admit it is more for my benefit and anything. I have to go to the powers that be, and beg for money. They don't seem to think I need money to do Search Engine placement. I needed a full list of "problems" to get some money for submissions. *keeping fingers crossed*

Besides the PPC are there any other sites that are now requiring paid submission?
