I hear that part of good seo is having a good htaccess page. Currently, all mine does is redirect http*//domain.com to http*//www.domain.com.

What else should I have in there as standard? And what can I customise to make for good SEO on my .htaccess for my particular site?

What you with your .htaccess depends on the specifics of your site and your server. You can do everything from making dynamic urls more user and crawler-friendly to banning bots and limiting unwanted access to your server.

As a start, I'd suggest you do some reading in the Apache Web Server forum on WebmasterWorld, starting with the library on that forum...
