I need more exposure so I made a few new pages. I'm under the impression that the SE's don't see the serverside redirect and just index the new pages...Is this correct? Or am I missing something? Thanks

If you are using 301 redirects (permanent redirect) and google already knows about the original pages, he or she :) will access your old pages, then come back shortly after each and access the new page.
Bear in mind that the redirect is in the header of the page and actually handled by the browser/crawler.
