Link to 3-4 MAJOR search engines on home page, good or bad idea?

Put a link to search engines on home page, help or hurt PR or SERP?

Hi....I'm sure this is discussed somewhere in WebmasterWorld, but couldn't find it after doing a search, so I thought I'd give it a try. I noticed off and on that some sites have a link (or several links) on their homepage to some of the major search engines. I'm referring to link(s) to search engine(s) in their menu or just a generic text link somewhere, NOT an "AdSense Search" or "Affiliate" type of income producing link or search box pointing to that search engine. The pages I found doing that seem to usually have fairly decent (3-4+) PR in Google and often are within top 10/1st page of SERPs in the larger Search Engines. So, I was wondering if anyone thinks this is related? And, more importantly, should I do this if it will help my Google PR (currently a 4 since going "live" 1 yr. ago), as well as help my SERP's?

The other thing I thought of is if I were to place a link(s) on my homepage to search engine(s), wouldn't I want to do a search 1st for either my site's URL OR instead, for my main keyword/phrase (that's also part of my Domain, BTW), and then link to the actual page from the search engine that shows the results? That way, my URL would be seen as a link to/from the "Almighty" Search Engine(s) and along with related sites, giving my site increased importance, relativity, popularity and credence - the very things a site needs to place higher in SERP's and PR. I know this sounds too e-z and probably only works in theory. I'm sure it would end up being a disaster, and perhaps is even a "BIG NO-NO", putting me in the sandbox, or worse, black listed by Google. Oh, and for whatever it may be worth, I run "G" AdSense on my site (including content, search and referrals). So, good idea or not to place plain text link to search engine(s) on home page and, if so, which landing page should the link point to, general "Home-Page" of Search Engine, generic (yet relative) results page using my main keyword/phrase, or the page with results from using my exact URL? OR - Just forget the whole idea 'cuz it would be disasterous? Thanks for any help with this and hope I explained it clearly. Mark

Just forget the whole idea.

Probably the best course of action based on the lack of responses.
