I am about to request the exchange of links for widgets.com ;-)

I currently have a seperate site, effectively, for "red widgets" and "blue widgets", etc..

As these keywords are particularly competivite, my opinion is that I should request just "red widgets" (for the red site) for the anchor text in the inward links.

I have, however, been advised to use "red widgets - super company offers 60% off with instant and secure purchasing".

If I am to crack the very competetive phrase, "red widgets", will this approach not dilute the importance of the two word keyphrase? Would you suggest a middle ground?

Best regards and thanks for your help

If the link is for the inbound anchor text only, use:
"red widgets".

If the link is for traffic (and a small helping of inbound anchor text help), use the full phrase:
"red widgets discount sale! blahblah"
