How to get your pages link to each other

Greeting,
I have been spending sometimes recently doing SEO work on my site.

Im talking about linking guidelines within my pages....

Is there any general rules/guidelines that I need to look at when doing my internal linking.

If I have 10 products, would it be good to add code to link to all of them on all pages?

Just an idea would help... and thanks in advance...

With internal links, it's important that every page can be reached easily, and preferably via HTML links.

But it is certainly not necessary to have every page linked from every other. There's no advantage in that.

With ten products, you coud probably manage it without problems, but as your site grows, your pages will get terribly cluttered.

Much better to have a logical navigation system that makes sense to visitors. That's all you need.

I found a good article (albeit pretty in-depth) written by a guy called Phil Craven about PageRank(tm) with a bunch of info on this topic ie internal link strategy and how it affects your PR. A search on him and pagerank will find it.

Question: does anyone know of any automated tools that spider your site and then show the theoritcal attributable pagerank /weight of each page based on the maths - then a) show a visual representation of the internal linking (diagramatically) or b) a tabular list - identifying the strength of internal linking.....and ideally recommendations about how to adjust weighting etc.

I'd *love* to see something like that, if it were possible / available!
