Hi,

I have heard so much about social networking but I don't really know how it works. How can I use sites like MySpace, YouTube and etc to market my site?

I am really confuse. I am not one that likes to reveal and tell all about myself so all things "SOCIAL" is tough for me. Can you tell me how to do it "tastefully" and yet make it an marketing tool for my site.

I was just working through a few of the unanswered messages and came across yours... I think (I don't have any experience with site of that type) that you could very well set up a myspace page as the company that your website promotes itself as... You wouldn't necessarily need to use your actual name and so on... I think one of the marketing strengths from websites like these is the shear amount of people on them and the possible increase in "unsorted" traffic to your website. I also think at one time there might have been a boost in link popularity but I think that has been largely degraded by now due to various reasons.

I actually have experience with this site and again it all comes down to relevance.

I promote some big labels on myspace however this would be classed a relevant for my clients, do you have anything to do with music at all?

Everything comes down to ethical or unethical and in my mind anyway this site is great for music lovers, for my clients its ethical can you say the same?

I’m sure even if your sites or your clients sites wasn’t music related you could drive traffic, for a short time anyway, however if the visitors keep finding pages they do not want, well what point is it?

If you have something to offer this type of views try it, if you think it would be a bad move in the long run, don’t try it, from my point of view the sites great, we make serious money and have gained massive respect from the site.

Good luck

MySpace is niche and may not be for everyone. YouTube has a broader focus and you can pretty much market anything there. How-to's come to mind as a good fit.

VisitYouTube and search for your niche to get some ideas. If nobody's there yet then get in there and be the first mover. Search other niches and see what others are doing if you need inspiration.

Buy a video editor so you can append your URL at the end of your reviews, how-to's etc.
