New study based on hitbox data based on 29 million visits to ecommerce sites indicates that visitors from AOL were more inclined to make a purchase 3% conversion rate, than were visitors from any other web portal/search engine.

The search engine visits include those generated by both paid search keywords and organic listings. All orders resulting from search engine visits were generated in the same session. The study does not include shopping-specific search engines.

Yahoo and Google, the two largest search engines in terms of referring traffic volume, ranked 9th and 10th in the conversion study respectively.

Not the other way around, as the title suggests.

p.s. conversions reported are just %. Volume is yet another monster

It makes sense the lightbulb effect, though i would say that its more consumer based products, than B2B stuff!

AOL users are wonderful people.

And depending on the focus of your site can account for a very high percentage of visitors.

I think it's very well worth it to spend the 20-something bucks per month to keep an AOL subscription to see things through these visitors' eyes.
