How search engines index +++ please help

Hi

I have some questions about search engines
- When the search engine visit my site to index all my sites in the engine, it finds the links on index.htm and add them, right? but does it go to the links and also add the links on that site? ...so all subsites etc will get listed.
- How long time does it take between each reindex from the top search engines?
