I've recently read here that google doesn't have a problem indexing files with no extension. I have a client that likes the look of this and wants their entire site done this way.

Has anybody successfully worked with no-extension files? Meaning, had them indexed, passed pagerank, and managed to rank them? How about in Inktomi?

Are there any other issues I should be aware of other than browser/doctype?

This is far from a sufficient answer to your questions, but I have a number of rather new pages without extensions, that are doing surprisingly well in SERPs in Google though because of some technical problems they have not been optimised very well.

So far they do not seem to have gained any PageRank, though.
