Multiple webhosts and links

I have 3 separate webhosts.

Hi,
If I link from one of my sites to another on a different host, is this considered a reciprocal link, and would it be a good idea to do this to build link popularity?

Thanks!

A reciprocal link is a link that is reciprocated. In other words, site "a" links to site "b" and site "b" links back to site "a".

As long as each site has it's own set of independent sites linking to it. You you don't want a "closed loop" where the only links to the sites are from each other. Lots of good stuff about links here [webmasterworld.com].

pmac, thanks! just what I wanted to know. I guess what I was thinking of doing would have been a closed loop. Oh well! back to the drawing board.

I was looking at some sites that offer banner exchanges, maybe I'll look further into that.

Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about linkin 3 sites together - I don't think this is gonna cause any filters to be tripped.

Now if you had 50 sites all cross linking and no other links going to them - then ya you might get penalized.
