Pagerank question

i've looked everywhere for the answer

I see all these people saying that they have PR4 or PR6 or whatever.

This may be a stupid question, but how can they tell what their pagerank is? I have the google toolbar and it has the little bar with the page rank, but how do you give it a number (0-10)?

All I can see is a third-full, half-full, two-thirds-full, etc.... :)
