This is my first time posting here even though I have spend many hours here reading content rich threads and learning from all of you. I hate to take everyone back to the old topic of WPG vs. Google. However, I need a solution.
I need to get reports on link counts because it is simply a part of my business model. And its not just one engine I need link counts for, but we try to cover a hole list of them. We collect data about the Internet in many aspects, and link popularity is one piece of a long complex equation. We have been doing it manually because of all the negative talk about WPG, but let me tell ya, it sure gets old. Another option is to develop some sort of scripts in-house and go about it that way.
I don't neccessary need a tool that does optimization or analysis, but I am hoping to find a lightweight quick tool that I can use to perform link counts only. Can anyone recommend a good link popularity checker that wont get me banned?

You could try getting a Google API but you will need to read teh terms first to make sure that you are not doing anything that may get you busted.
If you were to set up a page will all the types of searches you need to find info for you could get the process quite efficient.
