Remembering that we have no formal qualifications(although SEO academies are popping up). We have no real regulatory body or association as such. We have no charter.
Those of us who have been with the industry for a number of years can fall back on time served experience but as new comers and instant experts join our ranks, so will those who are in it for a quick earner ...before another one comes along.
We professionals have an obligation to the SEO industry to reach and maintain high standards and goals. It is the responsibility of each and every one of us to do this in order that the industry is not diluted and tainted by scamsters.
By maintaining a high professional standard, we automatically provide high standards for our clients and word of mouth will help build our business. It is a 'win win' situation.
Even Google publishes a 'buyer beware' statement.
We need to protect our profession from being tarred with this same brush.
