Value of Content vs. Links

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows how helpful content will be in getting my site higher. Suppose this:

Site A has 40 incoming links and 10 pages of content.

Site B has 10 incoming links and 100 pages of content.

Assume the quality of the links is equal and the quality of the content is equal.

Anybody have an idea of how they will compare relative to each other, and how much weight the content adds to ranking, if much at all?

Sorry, if this has been answered already, I didn't see it.

Thanks,

Matt

Generally speaking more content provide diversity of ranking potential while links provide breadth of ranking on queries of higher competitiveness.

Matt, keep in mind that not all content is equal - content structured around a theme but diverse in nature and keywords is likely to produce far better results than copy that lacks that diversity. Each page may not generate much traffic, but the aggregate will be high. I think it was Brett who made the point that it's better to have a thousand pages generating one visit per day than one page generating a thousand visits. It's a far more stable situation with much less risk.
