1. Normally google says a website which has lots of subsites, receives a better pagerank as a site with only 1 index.html! But what is with the "link directory"? I have seen lots of websites which only have 1 index.html website and no more content but their link directory has 500+ sites! Thinks google that this is a wbesite with great content and does that site receive a good pagerank?
2. This time many website owner expand their link directory in a strange way: With an automated script they add thousands of sites to their directory and than they write an email to the others website owner and ask them if they would add their link to their directory too! Lots of webmasters do not reply and do not add the link to their directory. On that way the webmaster with the automated system has a really big link directory but the most sites do not link back to him! Isn't that bad for the pagerank of that website? I have seen such websites with a pagerank of 7.... but I think thats not fair!
3. I have seen lots of webmaster which own about 10 websites and all websites look same. Only 1 index.html and a link directory. Always the same grpahics, the same text and the same links in the directory! Why does google do not filter that sites out?

PageRank / Link Popularity may not be the best solution, but the alternative is usually worse, hidden text, hidden links.

My Ex use to say "it not fair that Bill Gates has 50 billion dollars... I'm sure Bill Gates now says "it not fair that I was worth 50 billion and now only 5 billion... I guess my point is: is it fair that you appreciate there is something that others are doing and you're not, when the guy down the street has no idea, or is it fair that you have a website and I don't?
Business is never fair it's about competitive edge. When you have none you want some, when you have some you want more... and screw the guy doing worse than you... right?

Google attempts to do everything it can... its archive's integrity is the best available from what I seen, and most searchers agree... since they keep using it "more", and less at Altavista.
