What in the world is Go.com thinking of?

Disney has all but destroyed Infoseek. For the first time since the big switch, I did some long searching on Infoseek - talk about a complete waste of a search engine. Disney, you should be ashamed of what you have done to the once proud Infoseek..

I know what you mean Brett. I have sent them more than one email complaining about the downward spiral. It is understandable why Go.com is losing its audience. Maybe Disney will open thier eyes and see it is all their fault.

Got to agree the new go.com is bad, however if you want sad check out Infoseek UK [infoseek.co.uk].

A search for "napster" returns 9 matches, anyone figure they are not updating regularly?

Napster missing? could this be that they are aiming for a family audience. Napster is used mainly for illegal purposes. We all know they want to be the liesure/recreation/travel engine. So its all family oriented. Maybe OK if thats what you are looking for.

But agree, InfoSeek was a great engine for relevancy, even when they were indexing you in 5 minutes! Will be sadly missed.

>Go...the liesure/recreation/travel engine

Sad part is, they could be fixed -and fixed cheaply (as these things go (pun)). I figure a special web-savvy strike team recruited from the outside with NO prior Disney 'entertainment' corporate experience could march in and salvage it with a budget of < $2 million annually for staff and expenses. Throw in another $2mil for some content development, acquisitions, and bolting on some special travel services and GO/Infoseek would be red-hot in the travel sector by this time next year.

BuenaVista, wake UP!

I guess there isn't hardly a soul left from Infoseek now. All new faces.

I think the problems with the Go logo and the Goto suit have really soured their appetite for the web.

>Go logo and the Goto suit
That true, but I'd say there's been evidence that Disney expected the web business to be more like it's other lines of entertainment products. They have squandered a huge opportunity and have missed lucrative peripheral markets (vacation condo rentals, for instance) where their brand could provide immense power.

Agree with all the sentiments here. The new Go's an absolute shocker!
