The second type falls under 'Right of Authority' protests, in which the site owner claims to be the one true heir to the throne -the throne being Top Ten placement- in their search category. When the SE algos have the audacity to somehow fail to anoint their site as THE authoritative site we get heart-wrenching tales of woe and bitter claims that the SE algos are hopelessly flawed. To this second group, I'm going to be equally blunt... ''Bull Fecal Matter!'' Nowhere is it written that the method of publication and distribution is charged with determining which product or service best serves the recipient. If that were the case, then supermarket tabloids would have long ago been wiped off the face of the planet by their more 'authoritative' brethren, Madison Avenue would relegated to writing technical data sheets, and press releases would ...well, there wouldn't be any press releases --they're ALL B-F-M. This is an ultra-competitive arena, just as it is in journalism, publishing, and marketing outside the Ether on terra firma. If some kid in a basement whips me senseless in the SE's, I don't howl 'UNFAIR!' and blame the algos, I want to know how he did it.
