It's been mentioned in several different threads that there is some question about how to optomize sites with the recent events or lack thereof at Google. Also mentioned is how to manage clients expectations with the current index's behavior. Lets discuss what each of us has done in these regards. Try not to go into everything but just the things you will do or have done as a result of any changes or percieved changes with this thing called Dominic.

What have I changed? (My site is a niche commercial non affiliated directory)
My links directory-from 1 page with 48 outbounds to three better themed pages with about 20 links each (some new).

Content- Added more for almost every listing. Added a large and growing section on how and where to do the profit making thing for free. Intended to get extra directory listings with zeal, odp, and Y! as well as some government institutions.

I haven't pursued new links although I have added some that pursued me. As far as SEO I haven't changed anything except things I found that were wrong according to old Google behavior. I have added many links to my images, wherever it makes sense for the user, in order to get that alt text counted.
What am I telling my clients?
Not a thing. We are approaching our busy season and traffic is up. I wasn't working for them same time last year so a comparison can't be made. So while this month will be up three times from last year I doubt it will be what it would have been for them as they have slipped somewhat in the serps. They will notice even less than the user though, I'm afraid.

I've made some major changes to two sites I have over the last four weeks. Changes that were made on the first site four weeks ago showed all new listings and tags...then within a week reverted back to the old. It remains the same today.

On the other hand the other site which was completely transformed ten days ago is showing all new title tags and they're sticking. Freshie must be doing something as several new pages have been added to the google index.

I've basically ignored Dominic and just went on as if nothing has changed. While I'm not up to speed on the other stuff you guys find important I'm still learing and I'm very pleased with traffic on one site. I subscribe to the theory of building a site with content and one that is unique.

Works for me:)

Oh yeah, I created a site map since the new directory goes several levels deep.
