Jumpmenu links

Are they spiderable?

Hi everybody.

I’m building a new website, it has several sections, the problem is that, if i put all the inbound links in the nav bar as a list, this nav bar will be the largest element in my page, which i don’t want; so i thought that maybe i could put all the links as a jumpmenu, but i think the jumpmenu uses javascript, which is not spiderable; anyway, what about the <option>s? Could the spider detect these? Would you recommend me to use the jumpmenu as the navigation system? The important thing here is the site to be spiderable, so if the jumpmenu is not the right decision, i’ll change it.

I appreciate all the suggestions, thanks.

Javascript links are pretty much considered a Google suicide note. A lot of jumpbox menus are perl/cgi scripts, and they're not too clever either, from a spiderable point of view.

Why not use the jumpbox and then simply replicate the links using standard text links further down the page? It doesn't matter if they're 'off-screen' for the user, just make sure they're not in an unreadable (too small, same colour as background)font and Google will follow them.

Make a sitemap page, put all your links in sitemap and submit sitemap URL
