Hi there all
first post, so go gentle!
I have a site with products like domain.com/products?pid=123 and i have changed the pages to domain.com/products/manufacturer/productname?pid=123
to help in the SERPS
will i be penalised for duplicate content as google will see the old results are still valid (the page above is the same/apache resolves to the same php script)
for the old page and will also get my new page on the next deep crawl?
at the moment you get the same page by entering either way (they are the same page)

Best regards
Alan

Welcome to the board!

That is not a good idea. You should do permanent redirects (301) from the old urls to the new urls.

SE will see it as duplicate content and may penalize you.

The deeper pages usually do not get indexed so well, so you may not benefit at all. Also, the deeper you go in your directory, the PR of that page diminishes as compared to your main URL so you may actually rank lower.

You may want to re-think your strategy.
