I was just wondering what you guys thought of having links pages from link exchange programs?
I have managed to attract a lot of links from this program, but I am wondering, after coming here, whether it is doing more harm than good.
These links dont appear very often as backlinks to me, and I am guessing its because most of them have a pr less than 4... but again, I am only speculating because I am still trying to get my head around this.
Another thing... is this tutorial on getting good results in Google in less than 12 months still applicable?

I noticed that it was written quite a long time ago, so I am hoping that its not out of date.
Thanks for the advice. :)

Link exchanges are a good way to get a site in trouble. Some linkexchanges get busted fast, some fly for quite a while. In any case I can not recommend using such a service for a site you want to last and build.
Brett's Google tutorial is still great advice. Offhand I wouldn't know of any point that has lost validity. The reason is mostly that Google hasn't changed anything basic about their algo over the last year or so. It's a static SEO world right now.
But remember, Bretts advice is not about shortcuts. It's about a rocksolid way to lasting success.
