Submission Software: Danger of Spamming SE's?

I've been using Search Engine Commando for a while now, but I'm afraid I might be Spamming.

The problem is that SEC submits me to 22 Googles, 11 Lycos's, 7 HotBots and some FAST's. This looks to me as SPAM, but then again, why would SEC do this?

Aren't they different country/language google, lycos and FAST sites?

Yes, but I'm not sure that that matters. I would say that all those country-specific sites point to the same add-url code on a central server. But that's whay I'm not sure of...

why would SEC do this?

Because if they didn't do it, people wouldn't buy the product?

Automated submission software is obsolete. These days it's not usually necessary to submit even once to Google, let alone 22 times. There are only a handful of search engines that accept free and automated submissions and produce enough traffic to be worth the trouble. But how much would you pay for a program that submits your site to six places?

So they plump up the list by adding redundant submissions. Will it result in penalties? Probably not. Search engines today aren't too worried about oversubmission -- for the most part because they're not too worried about spidering the submissions they receive anyway.

Best bet: forget automated submission, spend your time getting a couple of links to each of your new sites from established, indexed, sites... and you'll be in all of the search engines, with those links bringing you better positioning to begin with.

The problem is indeed not such much as getting in to Google. The main reason why I have this software is for local search-engines. Do'nt forget that local search-engine's still have quite a market-share.

For some reason, most local search-engine's do not really seem to crawl. Some even require you to add EVERY URL on your site!
That why I have SE-submission software.
