Can SE's read <a href="http://yahoo.com"></a> without putting in the actual text link?

Or would SE's follow <a href="http://yahoo.com"><button onclick="window.location='http://yahoo.com'">YAHOO!</button></a>?

Thanks

Well, I'm going to need a consensus on this...I was just told the opposite...

Personally i dont believe your first example is a valid link as its effectively invisible.

And invisible links are a no no in my book.

Hi Zoombie,

Both links are crawlable by the search engines, however, not much weight will be given to them. If you needed text them image links wouldn't work.

I would hope that Google and other SE's are wise enough not to follow a hidden link like that. What purpose would that type of link serve anyway? It is not visible to the visitor, so therefore it is hidden. I would guess that you are asking for trouble using something like that.
