web site in flash

will splash page make a difference to SE's

HI All,

My husband's new web site has been developed in flash-gorgeous but I hear impossible to market to SE's. Now our designer says that a splash page in html will make the difference. Is he right?
If not, will the SE's altheast read the meta tags?
Otherwise what do we do?

On one site I built, the owner wanted a splash page. He already had a cool graphic, so I used it and put 100% width and height on it.

Then, I put the "real" home page just below it(same page). So when you click "Enter", it just jumps down to the "real" content.

Will a splash page make a difference? Not really. Think of every page of a web site like a lottery ticket. The prize is visitors. The more tickets the better chance you have to win. The pages need to have HTML text to be spidered. Flash does not have this. Making a splash page will have little content and won't really get referals from engines. I suggest making a skeleton site in HTML that is search engine freindly. You can link to it from the homepage. That way not only search engine bots can read it, but others without the flash plugin installed can also.
