Based on what I have read here, it sounds like it can take months to get listed in search engines. I have been looking into the web sites marketing the deck of cards of the most wanted people of Iraqi. Since this is something very recent in the news and the Pentagon just started issuing them, how can there be web sites that are not paid sponsors being listed so quickly? There is one web site in particular that is #1 at Google, MSN, and Yahoo (I didn't check any others). This is not a paid sponsor either. How could they do that so fast?

Hello Randu
Can you tell the name of the web site. Moreover sometimes it comes very fast to the search engine with good listing and it also vanish away very fast from the listing also.
Thanks Jitin sethi

Jitin,
WebmasterWorld does not allow the posting of site URLs or specific search terms. This rule is in place to prevent this forum from being "attacked" by people who have no interest in WebmasterWorld, but only want to "drop" their site URL here for promotional purposes.

Please read the Terms of Service [webmasterworld.com] - the link is at the bottom of every page here on WebmasterWorld.

Thanks,
Jim

Randu,
It is possible that this card-selling domain is owned by a person or group which has many other well-linked marketing sites. By getting links from all of those sites, the new site could quickly get and keep Google's "Fresbot" coming to visit the site regularly, and thus do well in Google. Google currently feeds Yahoo's search results. Inktomi, which feeds MSN, is also fairly quick about listing a site if there are links to it.

Take a look at the domain name of the site. If it is not "deck-of-cards.com", then maybe they had the site already set up and indexed for months, and then just put the card-related content on there recently. If the site was already listed and already had good incoming links, then it's title, description, and content could have been updated fairly quickly.
