Does msn/Inktomi use Google PR?

My msn traffic steps after the Google update

During the last few Google dances, my level of traffic has changed significantly from Google (no surprise). But my traffic from msn.com has also stepped up or down a couple of days later in the same direction.

But doesn't MSN use Inktomi? The incoming links are obviously different from Google, and obviously a lot older. So why do I get a step in msn.com traffic after Google dances?

Does Inktomi/MSN use Google's page rank (perhaps by trawling the Google directory)? Or is this just a coincidence? Has anybody else noticed this?

I doubt it. However, I notice Ink has the SERPs most like Google. Thus, if Ink is trying to imitate Google's algo, then if Ink is updating soon after Google a site that went way up on Google might also on Ink.

Inktomi does NOT use PageRank. They have just finally gotten better at spidering / updating / including more in their database.

Any major SE simply has to use links in some fashion or another in a modern algorithm -> the strictly 'on page' ones are too easy to manipulate.

Really? Interesting. Fast and Google track a lot closer for the stuff I look at. Inktomi, while still relevant, is out in left field somewhere.
