Although I've no doubt a fair amount of PositionTech's revenue comes from Inktomi paid inclusion, I don't believe either company is overly dependent on the other - Inktomi has plenty of other resellers and PositionTech has a large portfolio of other products...

Bear in mind that you don't necessarily have to use paid inclusion to get into Inktomi - you can try to submit your site for free at [submitit.bcentral.com ] and chances are that as long as you've got inbound links from other sites, Inktomi's spider will find its way to your site anyway.
The obvious benefits of using the paid inclusion are the 48 hour refresh, which is great for keeping content fresh.
Right now you might want to think hard before parting with cash & see what Yahoo does in the future. Chances are that by the time they switch from Google to Ink, you'll have been included in Ink's index for free...
