One of my competors ranks #3 in the industry against nationwide competetors and they only service one city and they dont advertise on any PPC's, but their site is listed very high on google, yahoo, mas, etc. So I viewed their source to see what they were doing right and in their meta tags it contains this where the keywords would normally go:

<head>
<meta NAME="GENERATOR" CONTENT="Microsoft FrontPage 4.0">
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html;CHARSET=iso-8859-1">
<meta NAME="VPSiteProject" CONTENT="file:///C¦/Web%20Sites/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/Project.vpp">
<title>XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Home Page</title>
</head>

So what does this project.vpp do? Is it against the rules to have? How can they achieve such high rankings with no keywords?

Thanks,
Shawn

This is the first time I have seen this .vpp, but from what I can tell, this doesn't seem to be anything spammy, against the rules, or tricky.

From some digging:

- VpSiteproject
- .Vpp = Verilog Preprocessor

I did a few searches for these terms, and after looking at the code of a few sites that use it, it seems that this automatically generates the Meta tag in question.

Thanks for the help. So is there not a way I can see what meta tags he is using then? Also, how do you know if someone is using a cloaked site?

Thanks,
Shawn
