I am building another site, I like the hosting company i am with now.

I spoke with them and told them about my concern about hosting 2 web sites on the same server, they reply to me with the folowing options:

- My new site will be hosted on a different server
- The DNS for the second site will be different that the first site, my first site DNS is NSx.CompanyA,com and the second site NSx.CompanyB.com.

Since i have read in WW to better have multiple site with different hosting companies especialy if they are linking to each other, Would this consider to be safe even though it is the same hosting company?

Thanks for you opinion in advance.

more importantly are the domains registered to the same person?

to be honest if you are going to do "anything" which you reckon will NOT be liked, then you need to think about a lot more than different servers and DNS.

however if you are just being cautious and have NO intention of breaking guidelines, then both sites can even sit on the same IP.

When researched upon one could lookup to see if the block of ip addresses belong to the same person, if the NS's match or if domain names contain similarities. If you plan on doing something risky go out there and get a new host for yer second site, theres probably more cheaper than the current co yer with (assuming its not free) ;)

Thanks Shak, EliteWeb

I always played by the roles, but that does not mean you will be safe.

I do not want to have all my eggs in one basket to start with, i also planning on linking those 2 sites when it is appropriate.

My current site has had gray bar for the past 2 months, nothing was changed to the site to get that and google emaild back but with out any clue to what got me the gray bar.

I am being carful to have 2 seprate entities by not having the 2 sites under the same IP or even on the same server with different DNS. I do not want to have another herror story added to this forum.

I was under the impression that even if you are doing things for humans and not just for search engines, it was not good to virtual host from one IP.

I thought I read something along the lines of SE reverse domains and crawl via IP so they might say "Oh, xyz.com and abc.com are the same IP, I've already got that" and move on skipping one or the other.

Course I'm not the sharpest tack in the box (yet, I'm working on it though). :)
