Hi all. I am peplexed by my ranking with msn. We are a paying site on their PPC and therefore also a sponsored link. But when I look at their back fills we are 106 out of 150. This I know for a fact is unfair as we rank high in all the other top players(top 5 listings). I know they all differ but can someone attempt explaining what action I can take. I have contacted Looksmart and they said they are confused as well. How can I contact MSN directly and not be put at the bottom of their enquiries pile. Appreciate it guys. Lekker Site by the way. Best for the information and superiority of the advice. Keep it up everyone
Cheers

Hi, i had a similar problem, not identical but similar and when i contacted them they had no idea. And were very unhelpful, they basically told to like it or lump it. So i did.

Anyway eventually its resolved itself, as if by magic, so hang in there and see if the same happens.

But id still like to hear any theories on this, that other may have, so to educate me a little.

:)

I am now also informed by my boss that we are possibly the biggest bid when it comes to our PPC and we are therefore supposed to come up in the 1-3 # of bids on msn sponsered links. Any input?

With PPC listings, MSN only show the top 3 if the number of searches is high enough. However, there doesn't appear to be a great deal of logic in this, as I know many popular PPC terms that don't return results on MSN.

Is this what you meant? When you say 'backfill' it looks like you are talking about traditional listings, not PPCs.

If someone clicks on a PPC through MSN, is that counted as a click you are charged for in LookSmart?

No Hbirnbaum but don't quote me on that. I say no as I think they are 2 different entities that you pay and therefore not reciporical in that manner:)

Yes you would be charged, MSN is just using Looksmarts results
