PR0 vs PR4

What to do?

Two domains. Similar design. The links page is exactly same on both domains. I always ask linking affiliates to put links to both domains, for I add a link on both of my domains (but same page). De content is different, but everything else is similarly designed. Submitted to Google on the same day. (I treat the domains as twins and do not favor one over the other) One domain has PR0 and the other PR4. How is this possible? Is PR connected with competition? One page is #14 in Google, the other #uncountable, somewhere at the bottom of the list. What can I do about it?

Hi Wired Suzanne,

Do you know for sure that web sites "are" linking to the PR0 site/pages.

If not... you can not have PageRank if no links are pointing to it.

If links pointing to it... then a possibility of a penalty, but check AllTheWeb.com to see if inbound links are there before coming to the second conclusion.

Yes, the links are pointing to it. Even Google is picking up 759 links, when I search for 'links: .....'
A penalty could be a thing. But how to find out, what I did wrong then?
And can a PR change over the day. PR0 on monday, PR5 on tuesday and PR0 again on monday? Or does it has to do with Googles update?

What you may have done wrong - did you say both link pages were the same? If so its duplciate content and may have been picked up as such.

PageRank is by page, not domain. Are you saying allyour pages in one domain are zero? or just the one of the 2 duplicate pages?

How to explain? Well, it's like this:

domain 1: index-page: PR4
other pages: PR1
links page: PR4

domain 2: index-page: PR0
other pages: PR0
links page: PR4

The links pages on the different domains are exact copies. They have exactly the same PR. Everything is similar. Design of index-page & other pages. Just the actual content (tekst & images) is different. Different keywords ofcourse, different tekst in tags, different images. However, the images, tekst, etc are placed in exact the same places. Design is same.

I suspect you may not have a problem at all.

Go to Google (PR10) - now type in your URL - if PR10 at your site this is a toolbar problem - so download the new version 1.1.70

If not the problem, and:

If content is (viewable text on the page) different on each of your sites, then you will want to check links from your site to another site.

See if any are PR0 as well - if so remove your link.

It must be something with the Google bar, yes.
When I typ my URL in the address bar, I get PR0. However, when I typ the URL in the googlebar and click on the result, I get PR5.
Why does it not give any PR, when I go directly to the site?
Well, Thanks all. At least I know I wouldn't have to worry. PR5 is not that bad and more easy to get PR6 or 7, then when starting from PR0.
Thanks a lot.
