Hi ...

Just would like some thoughts / recommendations on ranking software, I looked at Internet Business Promoter (IBP), AgentWebRanking amongst others. Something that covers all the main UK engines in additon to US/International ones is required. Don't need automated submission thrown in, although optimisation reports such as keyword density check might be useful.

While I'm open the subject anyone had any personal experience of being banned by Google for using automated ranking software?

Thanks .........

There are some that believe they have. If it is true then there is a paradox - take the software and run it as often as required on a competitors site from your Dad's PC via his dial up AOL account and they will get banned (or will they?).

Actually, from what I understand, people get their IP's banned from using Google by over-using rank checking software programs.
After receiving so many automated queries from your IP address, they just disallow any more queries from that IP address to quell the problem.

If you run your software from Dad's house on Dad's computer, you run the risk of Dad never being able to use Google again from his own house.

At least, that's what I've heard.
Can't say if it's a fact or not...

I've understood it to be IP's that have been banned ...

Getting back to the other point .. any recommendations for ranking software? Don't want to go out and waste my money on something that isn't as good as it first appears to be ....

Cheers

I was careful to use 'dial up AOL account' in describing the paradox because Dad would have a dynamically allocated IP address. Since he gets a new one each time he connects is it likely that Google would block anything in the AOL range of allocated IP addresses?

I used to use Agentwebranking and found it to be the best of the bunch by a long way. Now my Dad uses it :)

Good point, George!
I've been on cable modem so long, sometimes I forget what the old dial-up days were like. ;)
