My site punished

Hi guys,....my site is ranking on the 1st page for some keywords...but the problem is that as soon as i make any more changes to the website, the ranking drops by one or 2 ....what can i do to keep it up...infact how to bring it further up instead of letting it fall....

If you're in the top 10 you're doing pretty good. If you are the top 10... You're being conspicuous. Being in between should be ok.

If you're bouncing around, I would guess that it's because your PR could use a boost. But I could be totally wrong.

The reason you rank so well could be because you're competition isn't as saavy as you? How would I know?

There are any number of reasons. It's up to you to diagnose this. Study your competition. Understand why they are there. Study their backlinks in Google and FAST. Investigate yours.

If you are noting a daily ranking change... this is the affect of Refresh Bot crawling & posting new or updated pages, and not a true representation of consistent ranking.

The end month update will show where you are.

There is a lot of competition. I have looked at many competetiors sites...they have many backward links and a lot of other things..but still my site has been above them for past one week...but there are some 3-4 new sites that keep on getting visits by fresh bot and they aare ranked higher than mines...they dont evne have a pr yet..infact i suspect that they only came into being about 3-5 days ago..

fathom i totally agree with you.....but the reason y i am concerned atbou this is coz i thought that this little drop in rankings could lead to a rank in my overall rankings by the end of the month when the new update occurs..

"Suspect" isn't good enough. You have to know. Studying and understanding means trying to find the truth of the matter. Suspecting is the same as guessing and guessing will get you nowhere.

Instead of guessing when these domains came about, you can look them up in whois [dnsstuff.com] and know.

ok..i was correct..they got the domain by the beginnign of this month..and last updated by end of first week of feb..
