Which search engines do I submit to?

I have read that the following search engines are the best to register with i am uk based and would appreciate being told of other traffic generating engines
Fast/allthe web/inktomi/altavista/looksmart/yahoo

Definitely. But Google pays little attention to your submision, it wants to find your site by following links from other sites that it knows.

best is to spend a bit of time looking back through old threads to find out about each engine, whether to submit to it or not, how to submit etc. there is far more information in old threads than can be repeated in one new thread. check each of the forums listed here:
[webmasterworld.com...]
do the major worldwide ones first then do uk. there is a uk forum about uk specific engines and even a big list of uk specific engines.
