Is the only way to cheat?

I have only been at this for a few months but I can see that with all the veriables involved that is almost impossible to stay on top. We all have the same basic tools to work with and more and more information about one anothers work. How can you protect all the hours of work from someone who would rather steal it than work for it? As I see it. It's coming down to who can spend the most money on PFC and SEO's. I remember when the web was first touted as the way that small business was going to finally compete with the major corporations by having a cheap venue to advertise. Thats all I have time for now or I may fall behind the pack.

No, the only way is to do it right.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld otnot. My best advice for you would be to read, read, read around here and start picking brains...

Thanks Hunter! That's what I do everyday and it's paid off so far. No I have never had to cheat to win and I won't start now. This is just a fast changing game and you must change or get passed up by the cheaters.

You can still succeed without PPC or other adverts if you research your keywords properly, maybe you wont hit widgets up top w/o some sort of campaign to gain the return links but the blue widgets you can grasp. Research, even if blue is taken try little widgets ;D
