Hello,

I need some help here too. I have been working hard getting links and wonder how my page ranks.

I take it that is what (PR) means?

How do I find out how my page ranks?

Thanks from a newbie.

Hi Amy, welcome to the board.

How a site ranks is whether it's #1 or #2 or #100 in the search engine results, while Page Rank is specifically Google's technology, which give a numerical score for a vote cast for a page by another page linking to it. How much that vote is worth depends on the Page Rank of the linking page divided by the number of links on that page, minus a little deduction. Adding all those votes up is what determines the Page Rank of your page, which is one of many factors that's used in figuring how a page ranks for its search terms.

Here's Google's explanation:
[google.com...]

If you're new to it all, you'd probably enjoy reading through some of the threads linked to here:

WebmasterWorld Welcome and Guide to the Basics [webmasterworld.com].

There's a lot of reading to do, but it's definitely worth taking the time to study the basics. It really pays off in the long run, and once you get the hang of it, it always becomes easier.

New people generally don't know the terminology, they don't even know what they're looking for. But after reading for a while they start to become familiar with the terminology, and that's when the site search starts to become very helpful.

Meantime, feel free to ask questions, we're always glad to welcome and help new people.

If listed in the google directory you can get a good idea

If your site is what I think it is, your main page is a PR5 and your links page is a PR2
everything else seems to be a white PR0 (nice little site though :) )
(and you have been busy, Google shows almost 100 backlinks)

You ARE in the google directory, so you can see pagerank there I will sticky you the URL

I wonder if Google will ever have a linux and mac toolbar solution.

And now what? yes, I have been busy g etting links, but my designer is slow to put them up.

How did you say about t he PRO listing on the other pages, I take it, that isn't good?

that's a pr-zero, normally that is not good, but its not on your main page so its not a disaster or anything

I'll let you read up on all that around this site, its an awesome learning tool.

make sure you check out those links in the earlier message suggestions
